Ignorance
Radiant and daring,
Heart of gold,
Harboring a soul within; gleaming, gleaming,
Until ignorance unfolds.
And then we fade, and so we tarnish,
Our inner light smeared with shadows and rust,
From disheartening tales and toxic convictions stealthily imposed,
Planting in us discord and reproof.
We shrivel, decaying, aged.
Growing irate, fury escalating, flaring red, a horror to behold,
We annihilate each other; one distinctness executing another in icy cold.
And the world forfeits a little more hope.
